Hyderabad: Kishan Reddy visits rain-affected areas

Hyderabad: The state of Telangana has been advised to utilize the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for flood relief efforts. The Union Minister, Kishan Reddy, stated that there is an amount of Rs 900 crore available in the SDRF account, with the Centre contributing 75 percent and the state 25 percent of the funds.

Reddy urged the state government to use these funds to carry out relief works in the flood-affected regions, compensate the families of the deceased, and repair the damaged roads caused by the floods.

During his visit to the flood-hit areas, the BJP leader interacted with the affected people and assessed the ground situation. He visited Moranchapally village in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district, which suffered severe damage due to the floods.

Reddy assured the families of those missing in the floods that they would receive compensation of Rs 4 lakh. He directed officials to expedite efforts in finding the whereabouts of the missing individuals.

He also mentioned that after contacting Union Home Minister Amit Shah, various rescue and relief measures were undertaken by the Centre to support the state during this natural disaster.

In addition to Moranchapally, Kishan Reddy visited Warangal town, where he witnessed the aftermath of heavy rains and floods, including the inundation of colonies caused by the breach of a lake.

The minister emphasized that the state government has the authority to use the available SDRF funds for immediate relief and recovery operations, without the need for any additional permission. Utilizing these funds can significantly aid in addressing the pressing challenges posed by the floods and bring much-needed support to the affected communities.
